WORDS THAT FOLLOW THE VOICE

Create animated video captions that follow your speech

Animated captions can guide the eye through a spoken phrase. ShortsJet combines local speech recognition with word timing so you can highlight the current word, reveal a phrase gradually or show one word at a time.

Choose animation that helps the sentence

Caption motion works best when it helps someone follow the voice. A calm explanation often benefits from a stable phrase with one highlighted word. A short reaction may suit a more prominent single-word treatment. Test a representative sentence before styling the entire video.

Karaoke highlight and Build word by word

Karaoke highlight follows the current word within the phrase. Build word by word reveals the phrase as speech progresses. Both retain more sentence context than showing a single word.

Pop one word and One word at a time

Single-word modes put more emphasis on the current word. Use them carefully for dense explanations, where viewers may need several words on screen to understand the thought. Full phrase remains available for a steady subtitle.

Good animation starts with accurate words

Generate captions after the main speech edit is stable. Correct the transcript and preview it aloud before deciding on the animation. A highlighted wrong word is more distracting than a wrong word in a quiet subtitle, so check names and specialist terms closely.

Use the Animation controls for a selected caption to adjust the caption group. Short phrases, a readable font and a consistent position are usually more helpful than making every visual property compete for attention.

How to add animated captions

Understand when word timing is available

Generated captions need word timings for speech-synchronised animation. If an older caption group has no word timings, regenerate it rather than expecting an animation setting to recover missing timing data.

English translation uses full phrases: a translated sentence can change word order and length, so its words cannot simply inherit the original speech timestamps. For precise word animation, generate captions in the spoken language and leave translation disabled.

How to add animated captions

  1. Generate with speech timing

Open Auto Captions for your spoken clip or timeline mix. Choose the spoken language and keep translation off for word animation.

  2. Select a mode and phrase length

Choose a caption animation and Words per phrase, then generate. Try a short section to judge the reading pace.

  3. Review the caption group

Correct the text, refine its style and check the animation at normal playback speed. Export after the words remain readable through the whole sequence.

Frequently asked questions

Can captions highlight the word being spoken?

Yes. Karaoke highlight uses generated word timings to follow speech. The caption group must contain word timing data.

Why are word animation options unavailable?

A caption group may be missing word timings. Regenerate captions to create them. Translated captions use full phrases because translated words do not match the original timestamps.

Can I keep subtitles still instead?

Yes. Choose Full phrase when a steady subtitle is easier to read or better suited to the footage.
